Department of History is one of the oldest departments in the college established in 1973 to take up Undergraduate Programme along with Economics and Political Science. In the initial year’s college was affiliated to Andhra University, in 1985 the affiliation of the college was shifted to Pondicherry Central University, Puducherry. History was offered by the Economics department as an allied course from then on.

Mission: Providing relevant, up-to-date, and career-oriented education in History.

Objectives:   

• To enable the students to perceive the concepts of time and space.
• To develop the critical outlook towards History.
• To make awareness about the emerging trends in History.
• To enable the study of contemporary issues based on historical grounding.
• To introduce the research dimensions in History to the learner.
