Department of Political Science

The Department of Politics was established in the year 1973 to take up allied subject for Economics main students. This department has offered one allied paper concerning various issues regarding Freedom movement in India, inception of Indian Constitution, Indian Political Institutions and process etc. to the undergraduate students of Economics for many years. After the introduction of the Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) in the academic year 2016-17, the department is offering an Ability Enhancement Compulsory Course (AECC) i.e. "Introduction to Public Administration" to the first semester students of all branches.

In collaboration with the main Economics department, this department has many credits on its pocket for producing meritorious students and more over good citizen. The central idea behind introducing the current paper as a compulsory course in all branches is also to create awareness among students about the political system we are having, about their duties and rights, State and Union Territory Administration and emerging issues in Indian polity and administration.

The Department has one sanction post. Mr. Rajesh Kumar Karna is currently holding the position. The Department is also looking forward to propose the University of Pondicherry for introducing B.A. Political Science in near future.
